What is FMCSA
What is FMCSA compliance?

The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Administration (FMCSA) is a division of the Department of Transportation. It was created to improve the safety of vehicles. Thus, the main goal of it is the prevention of commercial vehicle accidents. Therefore, their activities are directly related to ensuring vehicles' safety by developing strict safety regulations, setting technical standards, and informing citizens about the established rules and raising their awareness. Besides, FMCSA actively cooperates with state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies, and maintains cooperation with the road transport industry to minimize the possible number of road accidents. It should be noted that the agency began its activity back in 2000, and today, it employs about 1,150 employees who work in all states.

An agency achieves vehicle safety through a safety and enforcement compliance program called CSA, which stands for Compliance, Safety, Accountability. Under this program, motorists, including owner-operators, are held accountable for their role in road safety. The FMCSA groups carriers with the same number of security events and assigns a percentile rank to each carrier. There is a particular safety measurement system (SMS) FMCSA, which stores the data under different categories. The data is continuously updated, but the driver can always find his results at the program site.

To facilitate data collection and reporting, the FMCSA has approved an ELD device for commercial drivers that allows the agency to monitor the driver and prevent violations to ensure safety. Moreover, the agency has compiled a list of ELD devices that FMCSA believes meet technical safety standards. Registered ELDs are regularly reviewed by the agency to ensure they perform all their functions and meet ELD requirements. Thanks to this list, the user can choose a quality product and have no doubts about the provider. In addition to the fact that the device is necessary within the FMCSA requirements framework, the product automates the driver's work processes, helps him solve work tasks, and reduces the reporting time. All this makes it a must-have device for the modern driver. To get an idea of this modern device, we will take an example of the popular and FMCSA compliant Ezlogz ELD device and app features.

It is an easy to use application that provides a range of useful services. For example, the application is supported in 5 languages, has a built-in travel planner, and allows the user to scan documents, keep records, save and extract them if necessary. The app also helps to stay in touch with other drivers and even family members. An exciting feature of the application is the point of interest maps. In case of any questions, the user can always contact technical support, which will promptly answer all questions and help you understand the device's functionality. It should be noted that we have indicated the main functions, but a more detailed description of the product can be found on the Ezlogz website. But anyway, all the functions of the device allow us to understand that today, safety methods have reached a new level. And such measures, together with the established requirements, can provide enhanced control and prevent violations and accidents like never before.
